The happy couple first met in front of the Romanian Orthodox church in Anaheim during the 2014 Easter celebration, only this first encounter was not so happy. One of Iulia’s friends was dating a somewhat nefarious character, and Iulia was closely guarding said friend. Edy was, of course, close friends with this objectionable individual, and as Iulia failed in her protective duties she was introduced to Edy. Iulia’s disapproval of Edy’s smoking habit, and Edy’s disapproval of being bossed around, prevents this fairy tale from starting with “love at first sight”. 

 
Since both Edy and Iulia were loyal to their respective friends, they were destined to meet again, this time at one of Iulia’s infamous pool parties. As they had a chance to talk and interact throughout the day, the animosity between them softened. Edy remarked that underneath her zappy attitude and brisk demeanor Iulia had a heart of gold and was quite fun to be around. While at the same time Iulia realized that she genuinely enjoyed Edy’s company. As they spent more time together Edy grew more and more fond of Iulia, and during a trip to Disneyland later that year, it dawned on Edy that Iulia was the one for him. However, as with most fairy tales, there must be a conflict before the couple lives happily ever after. Iulia and Edy dated each other on and off for several years before reuniting for good in 2020. Through the ups and downs, both Edy and Iulia realized that opposites do attract, and that it would be a mistake not to be together.
